Friday - 1 September - Back in Reykjavik

We got back to our hotel around 16.00 Thursday night, went to our room, lay down for two minutes and woke up at around 8.  We decided we'd better have some dinner so went to the Food Hall - only been open a couple of months - where they have a range of menus and lots of alcohol.  Got back to the hotel, Maureen downloaded some photos (only about 6 000) and I went to sleep...
Friday morning - breakfast at 7.30 which was the end of the tour.  The rest of the day we had to ourselves so what did we do with it???
We spent the morning updating the blog and sorting photos.  We had to check out of the hotel by 12, thought we'd get a bus to our new hotel but ended up getting a taxi, the only cheap thing in Reykjavik, as it turns out.
When we arrived at our new hotel, what did we do with the rest of our first free day???
We walked to the harbour as it was too early to check in, then back to the food hall for lunch and a beer, then to the hotel to check in then we had a rest...
At the restaurant, we sat beside an American couple whose favourite movie was The Castle.  They loved the Australian sense of humour.  The husband, Gary, was quoting it at us.  He was really funny.  Once again, slept till 20.00.  It was a very exhausting tour...
And that's all I have to say about Friday.  I'll let Maureen add her photos now:

This is us walking along the harbour

Residential buildings around the harbour

These were the steak skewers we had for lunch.  Delicious!   They serve potato chips with all their meals.   Weird!!

This quaint little house (?) was across the road from our hotel
This is the 'food hall' across the road from our hotel.   We ate here a few times.   It hasn't been open for very long,  but is very popular for lunch and dinner,  and drinks!!
