Morning all.
Since our canal cruise on Saturday we've been fairly busy!   On the way home from the pier we called in to the Georg Jensen shop - although I think 'shop' doesn't quite describe the setup - big mistake!!!   Cath came out with a beautiful two piece ring;   my contribution was the centre piece of a three piece ring and a pair of earrings.   I have been wearing them ever since,  and my ear lobes are now resting on my shoulders!!   Shades of Dad and Nana O'Toole.

We'd dropped some laundry off on our way out that morning,  and the shop closed at 2pm.   Needless to say,  we were running late,  so we hopped in a rickshaw to take us to the laundry,  then to the hotel.   Wow,  do they pedal fast,  and through crowds,  and around other cyclists.   Cyclists in Copenhagen have their own lanes,  both sides of the street,  and they move faster than the cars,  so your chances of being hit by a bicycle are far greater than being hit by a car,  because they are so quiet!   Anyway,  it sure beat walking!!!
Our 'driver' was a Swedish girl in her 20's,  who lived in Sweden and worked in Denmark.   Apparently,  there are a lot of people doing this.   They get tax breaks and other benefits from the Swedish Government to live in one country and work in another.   A man on the train to Malmo on Sunday did the same thing,  so did a waitress who served us dinner Friday night.

Saturday night we'd arranged to have dinner with Roy and Amy's friends,  Olga and Martin,  who live in Copenhagen.   Olga had given us a bus number to catch at Central Station,  and said the bus stopped right outside their door - which it did,  just not on the first passing!!!!   Because we had no idea,  I asked the driver to let us know when to get off - I'd shown him the address!!!   Sure,  he says!!!   When the bus stopped at another bus station and he turned the motor off,  and people came from bus shelters to get on,  and he opened a sandwich and started eating it,  I went and asked him if this was a terminus.   Yes,  he says,  oh sorry,  I forgot about you.   He did promise to stop for us on the way back into town!!   And he did,  or we'd still be going round and round some place starting with Nor...!   We had a great night.   Martin had cooked a traditional Danish meal - roast pork,  potatoes and parsley sauce - it was delicious.   He is a school teacher,  teaching migrant children,  so he and Cath had a lot to talk about!!!   Olga is on maternity leave at the moment,  applying for jobs for when she returns to work,  but is having trouble because her area of research is being scaled back all over Europe.   They have two little girls,  Freya,  who is 3,  and was at her grandparents for the weekend,  and Dornya (spelling),  who is about 4 months old.   Martin gave us directions how to walk home,  about 30 minutes he said.   We left their place at 11pm and arrived at our hotel at 12.15am.   We decided to take the long route!!!!!!

Sunday morning was our train ride through 'The Tunnel' and over 'The Bridge' to Sweden.   Took about 40 minutes from Copenhagen Central Station to Malmo Central Station.   Just as we were leaving the Malmo station,  a thunder storm hit.   It didn't stop raining the whole time we were there!!   Because we couldn't go anywhere,  we walked around the station - they're like shopping centres - and ended up having a beer and lunch at O'Leary's Bar.   I think O'Leary was a big American football fan,  as the walls were lined with photos,  posters,  memorabelia, mainly of the Boston Red Socks and New York Patriots.   Still raining outside,  so we posted our cards and caught the train back to Denmark.   Very disappointing not to see more of the town at the end of 'The Bridge'.

Was overcast when we got back to Copenhagen,  so decided to risk it and go to the Tivoli Gardens.   They're like a huge theme park - sideshow alley,  rides for all ages,  cafes and restaurants every second step,  large pond with ducks etc.   We wandered around for a couple of hours,  saw the Changing of the Guard,  if you could call it that,  these 'guards' ranged in age from about 7 to late teens.   They played the trumpets and drums,  unfurled the flag,  did the thing with the rifles (not sure if they were real),  then went marching,  to the palace presumably.

Beer and pizza for dinner on the way home.

Caught the train to the airport on Monday morning.   All self check-ins!!!  but there are staff to help if need be.   Cath's bag was too heavy!!!  so we were sent to the Business Class checkin counter.   The lady there said she would send Cath's bag through,  but pack it better next time.   Then she dropped the bombshell - we could go to the SAS Lounge until our flight was due to leave!   Well,  where was this information on all our other flights????   Eh????    We had wondered why we were always sitting in the second or third rows on the planes,  and why we didn't have to pay for the lovely salads and alcoholic or nonaccoholic drinks we were offered - and accepted.    Should have checked with Karen what Premium Economy meant!!   We'll know next time.   Anyway,  it was very comfortable,  and the people watching was excellent!!!  The food wasn't bad,  either - fresh salmon for lunch!

Arrived Prague safely.   Frank was there to meet us.   He flew to Brussels early this morning,  will be home tomorrow night.   Belinda flew to Hong Kong and will be back on Thursday.   She has organised a day trip to Kutna Hora for us tomorrow,  as the Cesky Krumlov one fell through.    The boys remembered us,  which was wonderful.

More later.   Photos following.
