Still Friday in Isafjordur
This is the trip to, from and at the Dynjandi Waterfall.
This is a panorama of Flateyri, taken from the barrier built to divert an avalanche into the fjord.
The town was virtually destroyed in 1995, and didn't fully recover. It's a beautiful little village.
The road behind!!!
This is Dynjandi Waterfall. It has about 6 smaller falls beneath it, but they can't all be seen together.
When we'd finished our climb to the second top level, and made it back to the car, the guide (whose name I can't pronounce, so I called him Bob) had some dried fish and skyr (yoghurt) for us. The fish came with butter, and you had to chew it, and mix it with saliva to reconstitute it. It turned out to be very tasty, and we ate nearly all of what he'd brought. The skyr was good, too.
This was the view from the top of the falls to the road and fjord beneath.
These are houses in Thingeyri.
Scenes on the way home.
More later.
